iowait problem with 2.4 kernel

Using the latest redhat centos kernel 2.4.21-47.ELsmp #1 SMP. I'm having iowait problems, never had an issue before I changed the kernel. Which 2.4 version doesn't have iowait issues? I've read 2.4 has issues with iowait.

No AFAIK it hasn't.
Maybe the RHEL one has or had.
Test by running a vanilla 2.4.33.

It shouldn't be that old "echo n > /proc/sys/vm/inactive_clean_percent" thing.
(Int n between 0 and 100, 30 being the safe test value if you want to test anyway.)
