Boot hangs on Hotplug (2.6.23)

Hi all, im trying to update my kernel to 2.6.23 with a RTAI patch on it, but the thing is after the recompilation process, on the next startup for the new kernel it always hangs on "Setting up hotplug".

Does anybody know what is going on?

Thanks

What distro are you using? What was your old kernel version? I think somewhere in the 2.6 series they switched from using hotplug to udev (though I could be mistaken).
