Hi peeps. I'm a little stumped with this one...

..Trying to install Fedora C1 for x86_64. Using Athlon64 3200+ on a gigabyte K8VT800 Pro and can't get past boot. I'll take some time to write the exact messages down but was hoping someone would have an idea about the error message that is returned and point me in the right direction (to save my writing elbow). I'm assuming there must be people that have been through this.

I've got the latest Gigabyte BIOS update installed - have tampered with the CMOS settings - all to no avail. :-(

Anyone know what's going on here?

It's a BIOS bug, but there's still no fix for it in the latest F6 BIOS. You must pass the 'idle=poll' option to the kernel to avoid hitting the HLT instruction in the kernel idle loop, which corrupts the instruction pointer.

The latest (F7) BIOS has finally resolved the issue. Thank you Gigabyte, you are not so evil after all :-)

I've just got Fedora C2 running and it takes great pleasure telling me a workaround is being invoked to address the Gig. bios oversight. Oh well - better late than never.
