X kills Radeon 9000 Pro
Hello.
I've been having a recurring problem ever since I upgraded my computer.
After trying countless things, like downloading the drivers from GATOS and even trying the XFree86 drivers; the X Server dies when I try to load them.
For example:
I set the RADEON (XFree86) drivers, log off to restart X, and there it shows a command prompt. It then flickers a few times, and a blue screen appears saying that it cannot load the X server. After looking through the quick explaination, in short, it cannot find my monitor; or, rather, can't find my video card.
I am using RedHat 8.0, XFree 4.3.0 (Upgraded), Radeon 9000 Pro Sapphire Atlantis, VIA KT400 Chipset, NEC Multisync 4FGe (connected to the VGA port, /Not/ the DVI port via the DVI-VGA adapter).
It appears to load the configuration files okay, but then fails to find any devices under the driver specification, and stops.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
