Hi all, I bought a new wireless router. It's a D-Link DSL-G604T info (Ooops I can't post urls). It's working fine, I have my own computer, my sisters and my parents computer all running fine with the new router (All running windows XP). However I can't get it to work on linux. I'm using redhat linux9 and there's no drivers for it and linux wont detect it. The wireless receiver is USB not ethernet.
An ethernet cable from the router to the machine running linux works, however that means a horrible 30 meter cable winding around the house, which my dad isn't to please about seeing as how he bought me a wireless router.
Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? I'm new to linux and have very little knowledge of it so if you could simplifly your help as much as possible that would be great!
wireless is still beta in linux and not all adapter are working (you will find especially difficult to make a USB one to work). The problem is not about the router but about your USB wireless adapter obliviously. First of all, try to search google about it and try to find if it is supported natively or not. In worst case, it is always possible to use "ndiswrapper" that allow you to use winXP drivers for your adapter.
You will need to download drivers by yourself and install it. Don't expect RH 9.0 to support it, keep in mind RH is old and deprecated (this distro is 2,5 years old), there wasn't any wireless back in that time.

What USB adapter are you using? Check the HCL to see if anyone has already submitted an entry. If you don't find anything there, you can probably find what chipset the adapter uses at http://www.linux-wlan.org/docs/wlan_adapters.html.gz
If you need help determining which drivers to use, tell us what chipset your adapter uses and someone here will probably know what drivers you will need to use.
