Hello, I am starting the planning and saving stages for buying myself a new pc. Specifically a notebook PC. I am going to use the notebook as a replacement for my desktop, so I am going to buy one of the most powerful ones I can find that has all kinds of little features to it.
I absolutely HATE using windows, and I definately do not plan to use windows on my own personal computer(s). So, I will be installing Debian Sarge onto my new notebook. This is a big issue for me during these planning stages. I have to find a good machine with all the good stuff i need to replace my desktop with, but I have to make sure this stuff is compatible for linux.
Lately I heard of a new burner that has a lightscribe lable burner built into the drive. You put your cd/dvd in, burn your data, pop the cd/dvd out, flip it over, and put it back in to burn your lable image directly onto the cd/dvd. This seems like a perfect technology I want to take advantage of (i burn CD's like there's no tomorrow) but I am unsure if it will even work on Debian.
This technology is so new (i guess) that I cant find anything on google related to linux about it.
There are very few pc's I've seen this technology have, and out of them all I am leaning towards an HP because of the lower prices.
The drive I am going to get will be "LightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer". You can find more info on the notebook I am looking at here:

I am not too worried about any of the other hardware, just mainly this lightscribe. If I am unable to use lightscribe on Linux, then I am not going to buy the hardware for it... I'd rather stick to regular sticker cd labels than reboot to windows just to label a cd/dvd.
Anyone know anything about this or know where to get info ??
Thanks!
