Wierd Problem (PC won't turn on)

Hello have been experiencing a wierd problem with my PC lately it turn on the power (the PC is set to auto start immediatly) but the PC won't turn on even if the power button is pressed. The comp does turn on after about 15 seconds and runs fine I have not noticed any instability. What could be causing this, my guess is the PSU. Has anyone had a problem similar to this? I am using an Antec Neo Power 480 watt psu. The stats of my PC are listed in the signiture.

Of course that is a great suggestion but i don't want to pay the service man as much as a very good psu costs...

You really only have 2 choices here. Pay someone to troubleshoot the problem for you, or troubleshoot it yourself.

It isn't something that someone can troubleshoot through a forum. It's a hand-on thing.

If you know how to troubleshoot the problem, go for it. The fact that you've posted this question indicates that you don't.

There are no user-serviceable parts in a PSU, and so if taking it to a professional repair shop is not appealing, then you could either buy a replacement PSU, or if the original is still under warranty, you should be able to return it for an exchange. That being said, Antec is a very good brand, and perhaps another option would be to contact their customer service and see if they have any alternative suggestions. In any event, based on your description it sounds almost certainly like it is a PSU problem, as the only other option that seems plausible would be that you've got some kind of short or other circuitry problem on the mobo. (Edit - if that were the case though, I would also expect to see some random episodes of instability, etc)

In any event, personally I would not advise that anyone tinker with electrical components unless he/she had the necessary experience and knowledge to avoid damaging the equipment. Good luck with it -- J.W.
