what prosesser will work best


Hi All,
Im startin yet another project box ,
I will be using it to d-load music as well as the occational movie ,as well as to burn
My choice is as follows,,

1) amd sempy 3300+/1 gig pc3200-----(proly 32 bit)
2)p4 northy 2.0 ghz /768 pc2100


I have 2 video cards to use too(both 8x agp)

1)ati 9550 128 meg
2)nvidia 5200 (not sure ram on this one)

both have tv out i would like to use

Well... what you want to do isn't really processor dependent. If this is to be a dedicated or primarily a media box, then I'd suggest the coolest CPU you can manage and a fanless vidcard. (Fan noise during media playback is annoying.)

Download will be better for bigger pipe.
video playback will depend on drivers and RAM. Both agp cards are overkill for your stated purpose.

The more memory you have the better off you are. The amd will run much cooler.

If you want accelerated graphics on the machine I would stick with the Nvidia. The drivers are much, much easier to install and have better support.

I'd go with the Ati Radeon 9250, myself. Unlike nvidia, you get 3d accelerated graphics out-of-box with the open source drivers.
