VectorLinux 7.0: enabling wireless card (Intel 2200BG)

Hello everyone,

I recently revived my older Medion laptop with VectorLinux 7.0. So far everything works great, only connecting to the internet via wireless is a problem. The OS recognizes my wireless network card (i think), lspci gives me:

# lspci | egrep -i 'network'
Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2]

But now, when I run vasm and select HARDWARE->HWCONF, I get a message "Turning on wireless support", but meanwhile, in the terminal, a message is printed about "eth1" telling me that it is turned off (Tx-Power=off). So does this indicate that my wireless card is simply not turned on? Wired networks work normally, but no matter what I do Wicd tells me that there are no wireless networks.

Thread is marked as being [SOLVED] and no solution is present.

@OP: Can you provide the solution so that others can also benefit from it?

Taken off the zero-reply list.

Oh sorry, I just marked it as solved because it doesn't matter any longer. I did not solve it, I can just as well connect through a wired network (I was installing some new cables anyway, so I added one for the laptop). Thanks for the concern, though.

That was because you did not put eth1 in wicd>preferences>wireless interface box. It was blank. So eth1 was not turned on in wicd.
