My Canon Scanner (CanoScan N1240U) worked well until I updated from Suse 10.0 to Suse 10.1.
In /var/log/messages I can see

but lsusb gives me

I assume my last thread wasn't formulated good. Because I assume all you linux gurus should know out of the top of your head what the steps are between an usb device plugged in and identified as such (as shown by the /var/log/messages) and the status where it is available for being shown by lsusb.
So where can I look for the error?
TIA for any help

You might want to leave the scanner plugged in at boot. Sometimes hotplug doesn't stay connected to an idle device. If you plug in the scanner, and use it right away, or at least access it, it should stay connected. Or, if you let the bootup install the scanner it will stay there.
