USB external hard drive nolonger detected after kernel upgrade to 2.6.11-1.27_FC3

After a fair amount of success getting a dualbooting FC3 on my Pavilion zt3000, i decided to upgrade the kernel through up2date from 2.6.9-1.667 to 2.6.11-1.27_FC3 for various reasons ...
All seems to be okay except the automount/mount features with external devices. I cannot mount /dev/sda1 anymore and Info Center says it detects the external usb2.0 storage device with cypress chipset, but not the western digital hdd for some reason ...

Anyone had similar issues ?

Had a bit of a win with this one ...
just had to mount it manually using
mount -t auto /dev/sda1 /media/usb

it seems after the update (doesnt appear to be the kernel specifically either as i have to do it manually with the older one too) something has changed. How do I set it up (kde) to automatically mount usb devices when i hook them up like b4 ???

You can add a line to the file /etc/fstab as:

Code:
/dev/sda1 /media/usb auto user 0 0
The auto here stands for auto-detect filesystem. This will mount the drive automatically on boot.

Regards.
