Unhappy USB Hard drive not detected in Slackware 9.0 setup.

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Slackware 9.0 on an external USB hard drive (Maxtor 3000LS) but when I run cfdisk in the Slackware setup, my USB drive doesn't appear in the list of drives.

I'm not sure if it's actually possible to install Slackware on a USB HD but any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Louis.

As far as I know, it won't detect it as the installer doesn't load any usb drivers or modules to recognized the drive.

I can suggest to try and load the usb mass storage module, but I don't think its included in the default kernel its booting up with.

Regards.

Ok, how would I boot up with a different kernel?
I've got the slack9 install cd but it looks kinda weird when you look at it under windows. (XP).
Thanks

For Slackware 9, the kernel source was on the 2nd CD, if you bought the CD set from Slack.com------otherwise those who downloaded the ISO had to goto kernel.org and get the 2.4.20 version, which was the Slack 9 default kernel.
