USB Devices Not Detected

Hi,

My Linux machine running Debian Lenny suddenly stopped recognizing USB devices.

My USB hardware is still being detected....

<quote>
lspci | grep -i usb
00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01)
00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01)
00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01)
00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 01)
00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01)

</quote>

All USB related kernel modules (I think ) appear to be loaded.

<quote>
lsmod | grep -i usb
snd_usb_audio 70272 0
snd_pcm 62660 1 snd_usb_audio
snd_usb_lib 13472 1 snd_usb_audio
snd_rawmidi 18496 2 snd_usb_lib,snd_seq_midi
snd_hwdep 6212 1 snd_usb_audio
snd 45636 7 snd_usb_audio,snd_pcm,snd_rawmidi,snd_hwdep,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device
usb_storage 77120 1
scsi_mod 129548 5 usb_storage,sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata
usbcore 118192 7 snd_usb_audio,snd_usb_lib,uvcvideo,usb_storage,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd

</quote>

But when I plugin any USB device (Pen drive, Webcam, external HDD), absolutely nothing happens, nothing even gets printed to /var/log/messages

It was working fine just 1 hour ago...!
PLEASE HELP..!

BTW,

dmesg says that IRQ#3 has bee disabled and as per /proc/interrupts...

<quote>
3: 16000000 XT-PIC-XT uhci_hcd:usb1, ehci_hcd:usb5
</quote>

I think therein lies the problem.

Is there a way I can re-enable IRQ3 without rebooting?
And can I prevent this from happening in the future?

The 'noirqdebug' kernel options suggested here seems to have fixed the issue.
