usb devices not being detected anymore

Ok this all started with getting wireless to work. That ended up working (using ndiswrapper as its a usb wireless "card") however a few days later it died and would'nt work no matter what I did being frustrated and seeing as its a test machine i just reinstalled current. After my first login i checked info center it showed the wireless device, mouse, keyboard and printer. Got ndiswrapper setup working and online. Logged out turned off computer, later today I started it up but now it does'nt detect any usb devices again! (I manually start ndiswrapper so its not conflicting when starting up) and I even tried this on my normal comptuer before ndiswrapper and after. Even after removing it it doesnt display anything in the info center however my mice keyboards and printers on both computer work however are not shown yet the wireless card doesnt work. So I think if I find out why it does'nt show up in the info center will get things back to working status as it doesnt seem to be detected anymore (or anything else yet the mouse keyboard and printer work).

EDIT: I almost forgot running lsusb shows nothing at all but when i did that reinstall (I did the reinstall just to see if it works before messing with ndiswrapper and it does it may just be how I go about ndiswrapper) it showed all devices.

Look in /etc/fstab to see if you have usbfs mounted. Mine looks like this:
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0

Yes it should mount automatically when you boot. To see if it is mounted try this:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
You should get a listing of all the usb devices. And also when it is mounted then lsusb should work.

If you have the entry in /etc/fstab then it should automount. If it is not then perhaps the kernel does not hav usbfs support. Try cat /proc/filesystems. You should see something like this:
Code:
$ cat /proc/filesystems
nodev sysfs
nodev rootfs
nodev bdev
nodev proc
nodev sockfs
nodev usbfs
nodev pipefs
nodev futexfs
nodev tmpfs
nodev inotifyfs
nodev eventpollfs
nodev devpts
        ext2
nodev ramfs
nodev mqueue
        reiserfs
        iso9660
        msdos
        qnx4
        vfat
        ntfs
You may just need to put a mount -a in one of your startup scripts, like /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
