Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

usb 2.0 on Proliant 1600

Hi,

I'm just bought an USB 2.0 PCI adapter for my (rather old) Copaq Proliant 1600 (P08) server to get my USB ADSL modem working on it. So far, I didn't succeed at doing this, therefore my post.

Here an extract of the bootprocess using dmesg:

<cut>

ehci_hcd 01:0a.2: irq 5, pci mem cc874d00

PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin D of device 00:14.2. Please try using pci=biosirq.
usb-uhci.c: found UHCI device with no IRQ assigned. check BIOS settings!

usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 2

usb-uhci.c: USB UHCI at I/O 0x2820, IRQ 15
usb-uhci.c: Detected 2 ports
usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 3
hub.c: USB hub found

usb-uhci.c: v1.275:USB Universal Host Controller Interface driver
<cut>

As you can see, there is something wrong with the assignment of one of the USB devices. I tried to fix this using the SmartStart CD, but the BIOS of the server is the weirdest one I ever encountered, so no real luck there. (I'm not used to working with the .CFG files there).

Here an extract of the lspci command:
