Urgent HELP PLease

Hi

I am a newbie in linux and english is not my native language..so excuse me for my mistakes.
I have recently bought me a computer, it is a Athlon 2800+ with 2Ghz processor, 1024 Dd ram, video card Ge Force 5200, hard-disk 120Gb, Monitor 19" Samsung Synchmaster Flat 193T (and sound..blablabla) BUT, i tryed to install redhat linux 9 for 2 days ago and it doesn't work. I have windows xp and partition magic, i made a partition for linux with swap..and...when i boot from cd to install redhat it detects my video card like "Vesa driver (generic)" and monitor Synchmaster, and says it cannot start X beacause my computer does not support depth 16. But for to begin the installation of redhat i must type at the begining "linux skipddc" ( i found out this command in the manual of linux, this command is for the computers ho have monitor problem with the installation.) After i write "linux skipddc" i can go one with the installation, after i am finnished with the installation it says " Congratulations with the installation(.balblablaba)...restart computer" after i restart i boot into linux but i have the same problem, when i write "xstart" my monitor flicks couple of times and after that it says that my computer does not support depth 16. after that i tryed to write the command "linux -depth 8" "linux -depth 16" "linux -depth 24" "linux -depth 32" BUT it doesn't works.!!! What shall i do..please Help...help...

This looks like a problem with your video card or monitor settings in XFree. Look in your XF86Config-4 file (I believe that redhat uses this by default now) for
Section "Screen"

Here is where you can manually modify your default depth. I'm not too familiar with what the settings should be for a Synchmaster, but try with
DefaultDepth 8
Modes "640x480"

If this works, then great. Work your way back up towards a Depth of 24 and a resolution of "1280x1024" until you find the best setting it works with. If the depth and resolution is still crappy, at its best, you can start looking into other reasons why this might be the case.

If this doesn't work... Try running xf86config to reconfigure your X server and make sure that all of the settings are correct.
