Hey Guys & Gals, I need some help. About a month ago I install Ubuntu 16.04 which replaced my Ubuntu 15.04. Ubuntu 16.04 is the only operating system on my HP Pavilion Desk Top. After installation, the new system could not see my printer or my webcam. I have spent many hours on the net. Trying to solve these problems but to no avail. I should mention that the printer & webcam work fine with Ubuntu 15.04
I have two printers, Cannon PIXMA with CD setup disk Windows software. Did worked with Wine within Ubuntu 15.04.
I just bought a new printer Based on a statement made on the HP forum. The statement said that I should have an HP printer that will match my HP desktop. That turn out to be wrong at this time. This new printer is an HP Deskjet ink Advantage 2135.
You have miss-understand what I have written. I have put the webcam in the trash a couple of days ago. The webcam was old tech (six years old). The drivers for the printer are the first thing that I tried to install on each of the printers from the setup disk and off the internet web sites.. I tried Wine to install the software. I also have used Crossover. Neither has done the job.
This new printer is an HP Deskjet ink Advantage 2135.
Hi...
Your printer is fully supported using the HPLIP driver. There is no need to use WINE or anything else. Simply follow the instructions here to download and install it. You might be able to install HPLIP using the Synaptic package manager, however, you will need to make sure the version available is at least 3.15.6. Otherwise, install it using the link I provided.
For a GUI program to help with configuration, be sure to install the "hplip-gui" package using Synaptic.
Regards...

Reason: Deleted wordage.
This is what I get when I try printing (Print command failed with status code 1.) All things found in Synapitic/HPLIP installed. Ran the printer CD once again. Re-boot operating system. Printed two things and stopped working.
This was unnecessary and if you installed anything from the CD after installing HPLIP, you might have damaged the installation. If you can uninstall the drivers and/or software you installed from the CD, please do so.
To help you solve this, please do not take any steps beyond what is advised by those helping you.
I have no idea how to remove the information installed off the CD.
I'm not sure how to advise you at this point. I don't know what was installed from the CD. You could try removing the HPLIP entries in Synaptic and see if that helps. If not, perhaps someone else on the forum can better direct you as to what you should do. If nothing else, you may need to reinstall your copy of Ubuntu 16.04. If you do, be sure to make backups of everything you want to keep.
