Trouble finding cd-drives after new kernel

Hi

Just compiled my first own kernel, and now I cannot seem to get my cd-drives (one cd-rw burner and one dvd-rom) running, they're /dev/hda and /dev/hdb (yes, it's kind of wierd having them as a and b, but that's not the question here ), I included IDE support in the kernel, and I don't understand why it doesn't work :/. But I'm not that experienced either...

Regards

For the burner, did you include the hda=ide-scsi? Also, are /dev/dvd & /dev/cdrom respectively linked to hdb and hda?

nope, havn't added that... both are listed in fstab, mounting them at /media/cdrom1 and /media/cdrom0, and it all worked with standard sarge kernel. now it says: no such device or device not found. gotta be some module or something missing, or blocking out the detection of these devices. /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd are found, mounted and working properly, but they are hard disks.
