The touchpad in my notebook is recognized as an "ImPS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse". To wit:
Code:
$ cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0005 Version=0063
N: Name="ImPS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio4/input0
S: Sysfs=/class/input/input1
H: Handlers=mouse0 event1 ts0
B: EV=7
B: KEY=70000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: REL=103
Because of this, xorg would not load the synaptics driver:
Code:
$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |grep synaptics
(II) LoadModule: "synaptics"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so
(II) Module synaptics: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
TouchPad no synaptics event device found (checked 12 nodes)
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
And therefore, I could not use synclient or some other utility to control the touchpad including disabling tapping (which is my basic objective).
Has anyone encountered a similar problem to this one? Any suggestions tackling this?
