Labtech mouse "jumps" to the edge of screen, scroll wheel partially works

Hi, im using a labtech optical mouse that connects to the computer via usb.

At random intervals the mouse will jump to a corner of the screen, it's especially annoying when playing fps's, as i spin like an idiot during a fight. =9

Also, the mouse wheel works when i move it up or down, but when i actually click the scroll wheel it does nothing.

I'm using ubuntu if it helps

any ideas?
