Total newbie to installing printer drivers-questions

hi

Up until now I never installed printer drivers on linux so I have a few questions

This questions are in regards to HP DJ 5150 and canon i350

I know that there is generic driver for HP printers called HPIJS but:

-is there a better driver that i should use instead?
-does Redhat 9 has it
-could redhat 9 have an earlier version of HPIJS which doesn't support HP DJ 5150?If that's the case can I just install newer HPIJS version,or are there files to be deleted prior to installing newer version?

Where can I get Canon i350 drivers?

This more of general question-how exactly do I go about installing these drivers?Just run the file(s) or what?

thank you

hi brownstone these links should answer your ?'s.

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...P-DeskJet_5150

http://www.turboprint.de/english.html

it appears as if turboprint is currently the only available driver for the canon. you will have to buy that driver. hope that helps.
good luck.
