telling linux that i have 4 usb in my machine ;)


hello..
well i bout a new computer and so an, and simply but the old hdds in the new one so i didn't need to reinstall everything, but as redhat was booting there was the automatic hardware finding thing.. and i have no 4 usb, with the first one i presst the wrong button so he didn't configure it, the last 3 work,
how can i tell my linux that i have 4 usb?

In a console (I think) type 'kudzu'.

i tried this already, but he doesn't find it anymore, i think i pressed a button like 'forget it forever' or something, thx anyway

OK - try this:

in the /etc/hwconf file remove the entry pertaining to your usb device
save the file
type kudzu
now configure ur device by selecting a suitable driver

I got it from here by searching this site for "hwconfig" (I changed some words to make it relevant to you).

PS. just noticed that your name translates to "I am that moose". Why?)

and for my name, 'ich bin es der elch' means translated to englisch 'it's me, the elk' ;)

Why are you an elk? or the elk, for that matter?
