suse 8.2

I,m trying to install suse 8.2 onto my comp and it just freezes up all the time and I,ve had to install win98 inorder to get this email off. What can it be ? I,ve had it installed here before ,although it kept crashing, and I,ve scandisked and defragged to see if there is any bad sectors, but that seems ok. Could it be a memory problem, or the mother board? Ive tried to install til I,m blue in the face.
I have run out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Have you attempted to install using console mode? That normally provides more information. Also there is a very good news group for Suse. In the future please provide more details.

What kind of Hardware are you using?
I reached to install SuSE 8.2 on a A7N8X-Deluxe by disabling USB, FireWire, SATA, ACPI. And selected 'Installation without ACPI'. That worked fine. After that you can reactivate USB,etc.
