Strange freeze

Hi folks,

I installed a new LevelOne WLAN card (PCI, forgot the model number...) in my friend's Ubuntu 6.06 box and was happy to see that it worked right out-of-the-box. After a few hours of happy linuxing, however, the screen completely froze so that I had to hard reset, which has NEVER happened to me since I use Linux, so I guess that new WLAN card must be at fault! (?) What do you think? Would a BIOS update be of any help? Which log files could I inspect to get some clues to what's wrong (I guess none... would be surprising to find "Hey, I'll freeze in a few seconds!" in a log file

)? Any other ideas?

For system messages you can check /var/log/messages

Thanks! I had a look at the file, but nothing suspicious there. What is more, the PC has not frozen again since then... ? Very strange...
