I imagine you need to install drivers for it and then reboot. I have not used a Storageworks but that is how I did the same thing on a RedHAt ES4 (HP) server using an HP MSA 1000

hello jdaniels, thanks for the reply

What drivers do i need to install? Because i can't find anything on the HP support page for this specific product.

I'm not sure if Debian is configured correctly though:

ds2:/dev# lspci | grep -i raid
0000:00:01.0 RAID bus controller: Compaq Computer Corporation Smart Array 5i/532 (rev 01)
0000:07:03.0 RAID bus controller: Compaq Computer Corporation Smart Array 5300 Controller (rev 02)

ds2:/dev# dmesg | grep -i scsi
SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00
scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
scsi singledevice 0 0 0 0
scsi singledevice 0 0 1 0
....
....
....

Hi,

I used the QLogic qla2300 drivers which came with our MSA1000, but I don't know if this is of use to you as we use RedHat ES4 (kernel 2.6), a fibre connection to the storage array, running on a HP server.

Did any drivers come with your StorageWorks? If not you may have to contact HP. Also, what sort of connection do you have to it? Ethernet? Fibre?

Is the StorageWorks being presented as a SCSI device? Have a look at 'fdisk -l'. If it's there you should be able to mount it with a simple 'mount /dev/sdb /mnt/mystorage' (assuming it gets allocated the /dev/sdb device ID)

Finally I'm not seeing any drivers available on the HP site for download onto Debian boxes. You might need to verify that it is a supported OS.
