There are even some hard drive tests that might work.
I tend to just take a large file and see how long it takes to copy. That isn't really a true test since in actual use, many files are quite small and also involve write and read at the same time.
They are becoming a rather slow media. Not sure why but so much attention is being put on ssd's maybe. Many are still faster than a hard drive.
