I am shopping around for a new soundcard and I was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions for one. I am running Slack 10.0 and just curious if anyone has one that they can get true 5.1 out of, and something that just works really well with linux. Thanks!
I have been looking into that card and one review that I read stated that it didn't have some new DVD audio support, have you had any problems with that?
The analogue out sound quality is actually very good. I'm using the digital connections with an outboard DAC, so it's not much of a concern for me personally.
The unit can only do sampling rates up to 48kHz, and is 16 bit only, so it can't do high quality DVD-A (96kHz, 24 bit for example), but for watching DVD videos it's not really a problem - Xine can resample to 48kHz if needed. I have tested the card with all sorts of commercial DVDs and haven't had any problems.
My SB Live! just crapped out on me lol. I am trying to find something that I can have 5.1 audio with in linux, and so far this aureon has been the only one that I have read can do it. I know alot of the SAY they can, but to no avail.
