Soundcard Not Detected In Fedora 5
My PC is based on CPU-PII(266),320MB RAM,SOUND CARD based on the CHIPSET ad1816a.
The card wad automatically detected and configured in FEDORA 4 at first boot itself.
In FEDORA 5
On logging in(KDE),the error message is
device /dev/dsp can't be opened(no such file or directory)
While configuring sound using system-config-soundcard,the error message is
cat /etc/asound.conf no such file or directory
/etc/asound/version -do-
/modules -do-
/pcm -do-
amixer Mixer attach default error NO such device
The output of /sbin/lspci is briefly
00:1.0 PCI BRidge ---AGP Bridge(rev 03)
00:7.0 ISA Bridge----ISA(rev 02)
etc
From /var/log/messages
kernel: PnP ACPI disabled
kernel: isapnp Scanning for PnP cards
While booting
Starting udev Time out Running in background
The next step of initialization of network,sound etc is not seen.
