SoundCard Detection Problem

I have installed RHN-9 in my Compaq Evo box. Everything is good, but the sound card is not working. I have a buil-in sound card with my mainboard. When i select "sound card detection" from the system settings it gives me a notification that it detected the following sound card:

Vendor: Intel Corp
Model: 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio
Module: i810_audio

please adivce me in this. it would be very hehlp ful

I had the same problem. Unfortunately I forget what I did to fix it. I hope someone responds and helps!

I believe that Intel has a driver for this. Did you check the Intel site?

hab the same prob with suse 8.2 on an intel 850. on this machine alsa did not get the correct information from yast2 (the suse config tool). i just configured the sound card by opening a shell, becomming root and then starting the alsa config tool with the command

alsaconfig

sound card was then configured automatically and everthing works fine.
