I have installed Slackware 9.1 and I can't seem to get my sound card to work
its a Soundmax... can't seem to find any drivers for it, does anyone know if its supported... also my scroll wheel on my mouse doesn't work does anyone know how to fix that...
Yeah, if you have alsa installed at all, it should work after doing what he said. The pc, I believe, uses the Intel ICH southbridge, which alsa includes driver support for by default. If you get any error messages, or more specific problems, follow up. Good luck.
For your wheelmouse to work, look in your /etc/X11/ XF86Config file and see if
"ZAxisMapping" "4 5" is there, if it is uncomment it, if not add it under your mouse section. Note the the upper case and the space between the 4 and 5, and you add the quotes also. If you have a ps2 mouse you might have to add "ImPS/2" to the same section as the other entry.
