Sound with slackware


I have installed Slackware 9.1 and I can't seem to get my sound card to work
its a Soundmax... can't seem to find any drivers for it, does anyone know if its supported... also my scroll wheel on my mouse doesn't work does anyone know how to fix that...

Isnt soundmax the program windows uses for Intel/Realtek soundcards?
Post type of motherboard or make/model of PC.

The computer is a Dell 8300

im pretty sure thats what the sound is... I know its embedded...

Ive searched online to find excatly what kinda mother board they use but came up empty handed

go into a console, do su, then do alsaconf

go through the setup, turn up your volumes with alsamixer, unmute, and you should be good to go

Yeah, if you have alsa installed at all, it should work after doing what he said. The pc, I believe, uses the Intel ICH southbridge, which alsa includes driver support for by default. If you get any error messages, or more specific problems, follow up. Good luck.

For your wheelmouse to work, look in your /etc/X11/ XF86Config file and see if
"ZAxisMapping" "4 5" is there, if it is uncomment it, if not add it under your mouse section. Note the the upper case and the space between the 4 and 5, and you add the quotes also. If you have a ps2 mouse you might have to add "ImPS/2" to the same section as the other entry.
