Unhappy Sound Problems ac'97 on rh 8.0


My VIA ac'97 sound card is still not fixed on red hat 8.0 can any one help?

A little more input would help :
But are you sure your kernel support his card? you might need to compile a new one with the support (modules) for it.

Ok i have red hat 8.0 i have a via ac'97 sound card red hat detects it but kde says it is no such device and will use null out put

Ok...Have you tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 to see what error messages appear when you try to use the device?
Also, is it properly configured??(rigjt IRQ, you have to check that on your hardware documentation!)

I have a via EPIA 5000 which has the same sound card as yours and I installed also RH 8.0, and wondered for a long time why the card was not recognized until I realized... that I had put the speakers in the mike entry.... RH 8.0 recognized the sound card from the start without any tweaking for me.

I have a AC97 sound card and i fixed this problem.

I have modified the alias in my modules.conf.

alias sound-slot-1 to sound-slot-0 and everythings was working fine after...
