Sound Problems...

I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster live! and here are my problems:

I can not read any audio CD's. I cannot even access them from any browser.

I cannot record anything. I tried to configure Kmix(which is a mess) in every possible way and nothing happened. I followed the Krec handbook and aRts seems to be configured in the good way. Has anyone had any sorts of similar problems?

Thank you for your help.
