Unhappy sound problem


hi, i use suse 9.0 and i faced a problem with my sound card
the problem is that when i want to open xmms te play mp3 this message will display
please check that :
1/ you have the current outpout plugin selected
2/ no other programs is blocking the soundcard
3/ your soundcard is counfigured proprely
, i allready use yahoo messenger and i thougt that may be it cause the problem so i disable sound in yahoo but the problem still the same
any idee

all what i do is that i reboot the pc after that i try alsaconf and it work but actully i m facing the same prroblem with the sound card i don't know what s the problem
sometimes it work sometimes it doesn't work
