Sound problem after installing/uninstalling JACK sound server

Hello!

I have an problem with my sound. Its really strange but ill try to explain it for you.

A couple of days ago i got ALSA to work. But i wan't really satisfied with ALSA. My main problem was that ALSA can't play several sound sources at the time. I later(yesterday) found the JACK sound server. It seamed really nice because I also work alot with sound programs like sequencers and midi applications. And it could play several sound sources at the time.

So i installed it using the Mandrake RPMdrake. The install was smooth and without major problems. I then started the QJack program(to start the server) after fooling around with a couple of settings I got the program to say that the server was running. I tried to play something, through the jack driver, in XMMS. That didn't work. nothing really happened after i pressed play. The program would later crash.

So i decided to wait with the JACK program and uninstalled it, to run ALSA again. Now, is where the wierd things started to happen. XMMS still won't work, even with the ALSA driver. And now when i login with my user i, as an startup sound, hear an small bit of an song i had in my XMMS song list. And when i logout i hear the original login sound.

What have i done here? any ideas what i can do to fix this?

Thanks!

i have:
P4 2,4 Ghz 500Mhz Bus
512 ram
terratec sound card running the Ice1712 driver
Geforce 4...
