I ran a search on this board before posting, but if in my haste I missed a topic that contains an answer I apologize in advance.

I've recently installed suse 8.1 on my 2nd box in an attempt to learn linux. I am having an issue with the sound. It's been installed and it plays but it sounds really bad. I guess the best way to describe it is that it sounds like an extreamly cheap setup. The main purpose of the box it's on is for mp3s and some surfing so the sound quality is a bit of an issue.

The card is a Hercules fortissmo II

Cirrus Logic provides generic Linux drivers for their whole line of CS46xx DSP’s including the CS4624 that the Fortissimo II is based on.
