Hello, I have an intel D845PEBT2 motherboard and i would like to know what must i do to get my integrated sound card works.
This is written at my motherboard's page at the sound card specifications:

Six channel audio with analog, coaxial digital, and optical digital output using AC '97 processing with the Analog Devices AD1980 codec featuring SoundMAX Cadenza
nerox; non specific information? question ; do u have a sound card in addition to the onboard sound built-in? if so then u have a choice: disable
one or the other, else it may cause conflict and prevent good preformance or non at all.
1. Hardware issues - cable is not plugged into correct jack, speakers are not turned on, volume is set to mute, etc. Have you verified that all the obvious issues are OK?
2. Kernel module issues - the module that supports your onboard sound has not been loaded. What are the results of running (as root): lsmod
3. Permissions issues - do you receive any errors about devices not being available, etc, when you attempt to use sound? If so, please post the exact text of any errors you receive. Frequently it is necessary to chmod 666 /dev/dsp and chmod 666 /dev/mixer
4. Configuration issues - frequently the software volume levels are set to muted. Have you tried running alsamixer and raising the volume levels?
In general, it would be best if you could provide a lot more info about the steps you are attempting to take, along with a more detailed description of the system responses you are seeing -- J.W.
Unfortunately I don't know what module you may need off the top of my head, but the idea is to determine what module the onboard soundcard requires, and then to determine whether or not it is running. (The "lsmod" command addresses the latter, I would suggest checking the Intel site for specifics)
As you know, sometimes a missing module just needs to be loaded (via the "insmod" or "modprobe" command) and that will solve the problem, but as I attempted to describe in my earlier post, there are numerous factors that can affect sound; a missing module is just one possible cause.
In any event, I'd ask again if you could provide more details about what actual steps you are taking and what responses and/or error messages you are seeing, as I think it would be very helpful. Right now all we know is that it doesn't work, and that you don't have another soundcard installed. -- J.W.

Is it enough???
My current step is try to find what modules i need, i did nothing before.
J.W; thank you on those tips with troubleshooting, hardcopied will use to pass on to poster,s sound problems. knew about hardware but still learning software. thank you again. & nerox strongly advice and follow J.W,s suggestion of seeking intel`s site for drivers it is a very detailed site.
been, done, that and it did the trick.
