Fedora Core 2 Test 1 sound problems

I use an Inspiron 1100 laptop with Fedora Core 2 test 1. For some reason my soundcard was not detected, thereby not letting me get any sound. I did some rooting around, and found the following in /boot/grub/grub.conf:

install sound-slot-0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore sound-slot-0 && /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :

This has something to do with it I assume... Would I modify this line?

I am not sure you should have that in /boot/grub/grub.conf but, this what I found in /etc/modules.conf

install sound-slot-0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install sound-slot-0 && { /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || :; }
remove sound-slot-0 { /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || :; } ; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove sound-slot-0

make sure you have the default sound detection package system-config-soundcard
run it to see if your sound card is detected. I had to run it twice, before mine was detected
