Sound card detection

OK i have red hat 9 and it says it detects my sound card but the driver is disabled., but it work when it is in a certain PCI slot. same thing with my nic card it doesnt detect it unless its in a certain PCI slot but they both work fine on windows. can anyone tell me how i can get it to detect my sound card. I tried runnin kudzu but it makes my comp wig out. any help would be apprictiated. thanks!
