igor007; u will have to disable one or the other. can not use both or u will have conflicts. that maybe where ur problem is. either ac97 or sound card,
not both.

Let me tell you a story. When I first started with linux, I was using an old AT form factor with an AMD K6-2 533 and an FX-3d sound card (AD 1816). RedHat 7.3, 8.0 and 9 would tell me that no sound card was detected, but if I went into KDE sound detection and played a test sound, lo and behold it was there. The point is, if all you have done is test the card with souncard detection, you may find that the open sound system is all ready to go and the detection utility is wrong. Also, if you do remove the card and use only your onboard AC97, I can almost guarantee that it will work. That is what I am using right now.

Hi
Thank you for your advice.
I have only an integrated sound AC 97.
I try the music files (*.wav) in KDE and the music doesn’t sound.
I have tried # sndconfig in terminal (logged as root) but no result.
In Windouws 2003 Server I used SoundMax and any problem with sound.

I have only integrated audio AC 97
Please give my some advice what actions should I try to resolve this problem

Grateful to you in advance.
Igor

have you checked the mixer settings!!

my initial problem when setting up my sound was because the mixer levels were all at zero.

turn up the Master Volume and also PCM/Wave level and then play your wav file again..

the reason is that you can sndconfig all you like and it will detect your card. mixer levels are 100% crucial when testing the sound

you shOuld hear "hello this is linus torvalds and i pronounce linux as linux" in sndconfig
