I recently built a computer, with the sole intention of a dedicated Linux system. Dual boot did not work well for me.
I have a A7V-133 mainboard, 384 MB of SDRAM. AMD 2000+ processor. The video card is just a PCI type, able to get a resolution of 1024 x 800 out of it. It is fine for Linux.
Right now the main problem is the sound card, SB Live 5.1, I went to the SB website, but they do not have drivers for Linux.
Now, I have feeling that maybe if a connect my 44x CDROM, (generic), to the sound card, that there will be sound. Which I will do tonight.
However, does Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, during installation automatically detect the sound card?
Do I really neeed linux drivers for the SB Live to work?
Anybody else with same problem?
Thanks for relys.
