Sound Blaster 5.1 Live

Hello all, yet another newbie / linux virgin!

I'm building myself a brand spanking new system and I plan to run it all off Mandrake 9.1 (downloaded the 3 cd iso's from the mandrake distro site).

Are any drivers already included in this distro for the Sound Blaster 5.1 Live card?. I found the page at http://opensource.creative.com and was wondering if this driver comes already installed with the new release of Mandrake.

If it does then excellent! What's everyones experience with this sound card and linux?

Cheers

Richard H

IIRC, Mandrake defaults to the ALSA drivers. The sound should work out of the box, but the new driver gives more options, I understand. Install the developmental packages and you should be able to install it if you feel you need or would like to try it out.

Easy software management: Red Carpet
Maximum RPM
rpmfind
You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc

Thanks for the help. I **really** like the look of Mandrake.
