Well i am not a linux user but i can understand that there is a problem with the kernel subsystem. After the aforementioned crash the wireless interface can;t be controlled at all. For example ifconfig wlan0 down does not respond at all
Unfortunately this kind of problem usually prevent my computer from shutting down when is needed...
Όπως εγώ το καταλαβαίνω τρώει μεγάλη φρίκη ο πυρήνας ... από τη στιγμή αυτή I think the problem has to do with the driver or with the network manager involved in this process..

I copy paste the hardware information that was found by YaSt.
Code:
133: udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_168c_2a'
  linux.hotplug_type = 2 (0x2)
  linux.subsystem = 'pci'
  info.linux.driver = 'ath9k'
  info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_168c_2a'
  info.subsystem = 'pci'
  info.product = 'AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express)'
  linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:03:00.0'
  info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_2942'
  pci.linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:03:00.0'
  pci.product_id = 42 (0x2a)
  pci.vendor_id = 5772 (0x168c)
  pci.subsys_product_id = 57375 (0xe01f)
  pci.subsys_vendor_id = 4187 (0x105b)

  pci.vendor = 'Atheros Communications Inc.'
  info.vendor = 'Atheros Communications Inc.'
  pci.product = 'AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express)'
  pci.subsys_vendor = 'Foxconn International, Inc.'

Post the chunk on wireless from 'ifconfig' and tell us if there was an output from 'iwlist wlan0 scan'
