I'm starting a new endeavor that will require more and better printed output. Clearly, I want something that is
very Linux friendly
some linux user(s) tells me it works well
network connections for wifi and wire(100baseT)
(grin) can also work with win-dose and man-in-sauce
completely supported by CUPS, ghostscript, GIMP and friends
full of features
photo-quality color -- prefer CMYK
various paper sizes and types
good registration
(optional) more than one tray
economical to buy and operate
I've been happy with various HP® devices for many years. Most recently, I've used OfficeJet™ ink-jet all-in-one machines and the HPLIP "drivers." I'm not locked in with HP or ink-jet if I get solid recommendations from my friends here are LinuxQuestions.
LinuxQuestions has an AutoBump for zero reply threads ( I think 3 over 3 days, but don't quote me on that )
+ you are now off the Zero Reply Threads ( link towards the bottom of right column )
I've never had any problems with Epson, my current being Photo R300 ( yes it is old )
other than that I don't really have much to bring to the party
There are two things to consider: printer quality and Linux compatibility. A good way to check the first is to look at reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. As for the second, HP has a Linux-friendly reputation, but Samsung do a unified driver package which works fine and Epson and Canon have drivers for many models.
