Question SCSI hard disk detection problem on Mandrake Linux 10.0

Hi guys!
I've got a problem with the detection of two scsi hard drives in Mandrake Linux 10.0 Official...
Although the two scsi disks are correctly detected at boot and the adapter report the correct installation of the scsi BIOS, when the system is booted up I can't see any of the disk nor obviously mount them.
The kernel modules for scsi seem to be correctly loaded and the scsi controller is correclty recognised (a dual channel Adaptec 39160) as stated from HardDrake...
The command cat /proc/scsi/scsi doesn't show any device attached to the bus.
Both the Adapter and the disks were added some time after the installation of the system, but I believe that's not this the point.
I'm sure the connections and the terminations are OK, because the disks are correcly seen both from a WinXP installation resident in the same linux disk, and from a knoppix 3.4
Maybe it's a problem related to some init script (?!?) because while boot up the kernel completely ignore the scsi adapter and doesn't probe for any device... anyway I'm not so experienced Linux user, so any suggestion is wellcome!

Thank you all!

Promise Controller Card

Perhaps your problem is that Kernel 2.6 doesn't support Promise card. If this is the case you need to go to Kernel 2.4.

I'm sorry guys, it was only my fault!
The scsi subsystem was correctly initialized, but the system wasn't loading the correct scsi module... Now the problem is fixed.

For Dariusz, thank you anyway, but my promise card is working correctly (kernel 2.6.3-7mdk), the trouble was with the scsi card.

Sorry for replying so late... i'm switching to debian-sarge!!

Thank you all,
ludo980
