hard disk detection
well i m not sure that this is a hardware problem related specifically to linux but still i think this is the forum to ask..
i use RH9 on my PC.
now sometimes happens that my harddisk is not detected in BIOS stage itself and when i enter BIOS i see following at my primary master.
09-SV2020H
or
0-99-SV2020H
here 09 should not appear and SV2020H is my harddisk...
when such thing is witnessed i cannot access my harddisk.. when it is normal then i can.. the normal detection is like this..
SV2020H
can anyone suggest a solution to this problem

check your IDE cable that connects to the drive...if you don't have access to one, maybe see if you can borrow an extra one, or go buy one (they are really cheap), and replace the one that connects to the drive, could possibly be a faulty cable..
i am not saying this is the reason for your problems, but its a good possibility...
