screen diagonal line when playing video

Hello!
I've recently bought this intel core 2 duo P8600 laptop second hand, and I get a diagonal line when the image swaps while playing video, I guess it's a problem with the integrated graphic card, but I don't know if it can be solved or I will just have to live with it, or whether it can get worse over time or not with an over used integrated graphics.

What is the graphics chipset? (The command lspci issued as root should provide that information.)

For a test, you could try booting to a Live CD of some other distro and test whether the problem persists. If it does, it may be a hardware problem.

I followed this tutorial no more tearing for now, thanks for sharing the problem's name, I was able to find a proper solution by knowing it "tearing" woah plenty of resources, cheer bb
