s-video black levels and wierdness
Alright so I have a media center pc up and running. Everything works, but the video out (through s-video) is kind of cooky. First of all there is major overscan problems, but since I have an fx5200 that can be fixed by the nvidia driver. The problem is that the overscan is highly variable. When the screen is black, the edges are in view. When the screen is white there is tons of overscan. When I move a white window around on a black background the screen bends out as I move the white window around. Additionally the black isn't very black when I have nothing but a black background. When white comes in, however the screen gets much lighter. I am using a normal SDTV with svideo in. I have tried to change the vertrefresh and the horizfreq in xorg.conf but it doesn't really change anything. I am currently using
HorizSync 30-50
VertRefresh 60
Is this just the way svideo is? I have tried moving the cable around to see if its maybe interference on the cable or a plug problem, but neither seems to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I have another linux (gentoo) box that I tried with the TV and the same thing happens. I haven't really tried with windows.
P.P.S. here is my xorg.conf
