Riptide install: WHat is "hw"?

I'm running SuSE 9.0 with kernel 2.4.21-144-athlon, on an HP Pavilion PC and it all seems to install fine until ripconfig is run, during wich it ends with these lines:

/lib/modules/2.4.21-144-athlon/build/include/linux/poll.h: At top level:
rt_mdl.c:61: error: storage size of `hw' isn't known
make: *** [rt_mdl.o] Error 1

Any ideas what 'hw' is and how I can fix this problem?

Thanks
Aaron

hw = hardware? well, that was the reason behind me selecting my user id here. :P
hw seems to be just a variable in that file for something.
what version of gcc(?) are you using? im guessing that it might have something to do with declaration of hw in that file (gcc-2.xx uses the C89 standard which needs you to declare vars at the beginning of the block, while gcc-3.xx uses C99 which doesnt need this.)

its something you could look into, if you want. (the solution is to move the var decl to the start of the particular func block).

Thanx h/w,

I'm have gcc 3.3.1-24 installed according to YaST. I'll check the source code fore the variable and see if I can figure out what the problem is(I'll try moveing the decl), even though I don't think I can do much with only one semester of programming under my belt :P

Thanx again,
Aaron

Update:
No luck, couldn't find hw, well I sent in a support request to linuxant, hopefully that will turn up with some goodness. Meanwhile any suggestions on where to look or any other possible fixes?

Thanx again,
Aaron
