Currently having problems with running redhat linux 9 on Microsoft virtual server. For some reason the Redhat box just drops off the network yet it still has its ip address and network services are still running. If I run "service network restart" everything comes back up and works fine.
First of all is running redhat on MS Virtual Server a bad idea to begin with? My boss persists that it shouldn't make a difference
Anyway if anyone has had any expereince or ideas about this situation please let me know not entirely sure if its a hardware or software problem if this is the wrong forum for this question please let me know.

From what I've read, it's not the best thing to do in the first place. I would highly recommend moving to VM Ware for running Linux on Windows. It is much better at it IMO. Sorry I can't help with the first question though, I have a feeling the virtual machine is to blame. You can get a free 30 day trial of VM Ware from the developers if your boss would let you take it for a test drive.
