Angry Redhat 9 Sound issues!!

Hello to those that read this,

I have been banging my head on my desk for about a week now trying to get my sound card issue straightend out. My forehead is sore, and so is my back from sitting here all the time!! Hope somone can help me out.

Here's the issue. My sound card worked great when I first installed Redhat. But now it stopped working. The only time I get sound is at login. You know the music that plays when it starts up. Then it stops altogether. I have no clue how to restart the sound server either.

I have two cards I have been working with and both do the same thing. One is integrated, (which is turned off right now) and the other one is listed below. I believe they both use the same driver (ac97_codec)

Any clues?

PS: I have Googled and Googled and Googled with no luck. I have also checked around this forum, but I haven't seen anyone with the same problems.

Thanks in advance!!

Here's my lsmod:

Fixed!!! Stupid too. I went into the control panel (K Control) under sound system then Sound I/O and enabled Full Duplex operation.

Now I have sound!!

Another problem. While using Xmms I don't hear the Gaim sounds until I stop Xmms. Then it plays ALL the sounds I missed.

Any fixes out there?

Don't know about your prob, but I have a similar problem...

sound is great for some minutes, then it stops, and only the console beeps make any noise.

don't know what to do - i have an nforce chipset, with builtin sound, rh9, gnome.
